Before coming to St. Joseph Catholic School, Julie Rodriguez spent over 30 years in Education, starting in High School with a Kindergarten class. After graduating from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, Mrs. Rodriguez was selected to work in Dallas ISD as a third-grade teacher. This began her long love of teaching. She spent 20 years as a classroom English as a Second Language teacher before transferring to Special Education and Inclusion. During this time, Mrs. Rodriguez earned her Master’s in Teaching at National University in California and specialized in Reading Instruction. After 6 years as a Special Education teacher, Mrs. Rodriguez was able to transfer her love of reading to teaching and evaluating children with dyslexia. Through this training she earned her Certified Academic Language Practitioners certification and license with Texas, as well as completing the Level II Wilson Therapist training to provide Wilson Dyslexia Therapy. Because a teacher is also a student, she decided to earn her Educational Diagnostician Certification to understand how children think and learn, and then be able to identify children with different learning disabilities. Mrs. Rodriguez has been married for 27 years and has three children. She enjoys reading, traveling, needlepoint and crochet, and word games. Mrs. Rodriguez believes all children deserve a quality education and can be successful. With everyone working together, the child’s potential and success is limitless.
