Julio Suarez is a professional visual artist and art educator and joined the St. Joseph Catholic School (then South Arlington Catholic School) faculty in 1999 initially as a visiting art teacher for special projects. He teaches every Wednesday and directs an after school art program since 2005. He directs and is curator for an annual juried student art exhibition at SJCS which showcases excellence in drawing and design by young artists. In addition to his teaching at SJCS, Mr. Suarez is a teaching artist for children and youth of all levels throughout the Metroplex through his affiliation with Big Thought, Young Audiences of Northeast Texas, the Navarro Council of the Arts, Plano Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Programming and SMU Summer Youth Program. Suarez began his teaching career in 1986 teaching English, Communication Arts and Film and Television at Iona Prep in New Rochelle, New York.
His personal artwork, primarily watercolor and acrylic paintings, has been exhibited in galleries throughout the Dallas and Fort Worth area and his paintings are part of private collections throughout the United States, Canada, China and Japan. He is a graduate of New York University with postgraduate studies at Fordham University and Collin College.
He and his wife Jean reside in Plano and are active parishioners of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
